Prambanan Temple

Prambanan Temples is chain of Hindu's temples, erected by Sanjaya Dynasty in the ninth century. The Pikatan inscription on the temple arose the idea that it was built by Rakai pikatan and completed by Rakai Balitung. Kraton

Sultan Palace or kraton was designed and built in stages 17S55 and 1790 by Jogja's founder, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I. it is a splendid example of traditional Javanese court architecture. Conceived not only as the royal residence but as the focal point for the entire kingdom, the Kraton is carefully constructed to farm a model of the Javanese cosmos in miniature. Each gateway, each pavilion, each courtyard, tree and field has a specific symbolic meaning, and it was thought that by structuring the Kraton  in this way, the court and the kingdom could be harmonized with the Starting from the North Square, Alun-alun Utara till the South a Square, Alun-alun Selatan, giving us about the explanation of religious teaching, the history of the Jogjakarta, the Philosophic of Javanese life, and the Javanese Culture.

The Kraton consists of several parts; Pagelaran Pavilion (front), Tratag Siti Hinggil, Manguntur Tangkil Hall, Witono Hall, Ponconiti Hall, Trajumas Hall, Gedung Kuning or Golden Hall (Sultan's Residence), Kencono Hall (coronation and wedding ceremony purposes), Proboyekso Hall (the heirlooms building),  Manis Hall (for drinking tea), stable yard, Ksatrian Hall (Princes Residence), Kemagangan,  South Siti Hinggil.

The Kraton  is opened from 8.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Monday until Saturday, and 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Friday.

Climate
Jogja has two seasons along the year-the dry takes may to September and the rainy is between October to April. The average daily temperature range between 22ºC to 30ºC (78ºF to 90oF) while the humidity is between 65% to 85%. Generally, there is no rain falls from May to August and the weather is a little bit hot and humid on the day and cool in the night and early morning.

Demographic
The number of population of Jogjakarta is 3,390,000 inhabitants and the average density is estimated to be 980,90 persons per square kilometer, spreading in the area of 3,186 sq.km.

Language
The major language is Javanese language while the national Bahasa Indonesia is commonly spoken, too. Published tourist information is in English and in the certain place such as Sultan palace, there are many local guides speak Japanese, Mandarin, Dutch, German, French, and Spanish fluently. 


Currency Exchange
Indonesia's Rupiah are two kinds bank notes and coins. There are many ATMs machines can be found in Jogja and credit cards are possible to be used in many big shops and supermarkets.

Telecommunication and Postal Service
To dial any number in Jogja, using the access code +62 +74 + (local number). To make a phone call within city, dial the local number directly. There are many public telecommunication kiosks (Kiostel and Wartel) are available. Jogjakarta Central Post Office is located at Jalan P. Senopati no.1 and the office's Parcel Division is on Jalan mayor Suryotomo.

Local Time and Business Hours
Jogja is on Western Indonesia Time : GMT +7 hours. Shops and markets are opened between 9 a.m. until 9-10 p.m. most local restaurants starting from 7 a.m. 10-11 p.m. The office hours starting from 8 a.m. for Monday to Thursday and 8 a.m until 12 p.m for Friday.

Getting Around
There are many ways to move about in Jogjakarta are available such as taxis, city buses, motorcycles, hors carts, and becaks (pedicabs). Car and Motorcycle rentals are also available. Wearing seatbelt and helmed are recommended if you want to drive on your own because of the traffic situation.

Staying Places
Jogjakarta is the best city in Java in term of places to stay to a good value and superb choice. Starting for a cheap until a mid-range hotels and also stars hotels offer a good and charming service with officials' friendly looking face and smile.
The well known tourist areas are Sosrowijayan and Prawirotaman and also called tourist village.

Shopping
Jalan Malioboro is the main street in Jogja and also the main shopping place with its beautifully art works in variety prices. It seem like a sleepless street offering many visitor to visit. It is quite busy in the time of school holiday where there are many student from many areas from Indonesia visiting for shopping. Kotagede is the main of thethird Islamic Kingdom located in the South-East of Jogja also offer a beautifully silverworks with a high quality hand-made process and reasonable price. Jalan Tirtodipuran is a special areas for a high class batik of hand-made and stamped processes.

Electricity
Indonesia current are 50Hz at either 110 or 220 volts, mostly 220 volts, using a two sponged plug. It is advisable to ask check before using an appliance.

Customs
Customs allow on entry a maximum of one litter alcoholic beverages, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 100 grams of tobacco and reasonable amount of perfume. An airport tax Rp. 100.000 for international flight and Rp. 25.000 for the domestic flight. Started from February 2004, visa free policy applied to 11 Asian countries and visa on arrival privileged for 21 other countries.

Information Posts
Tourist Information Centre (TIC) is located in Jalan Malioboro, providing free city maps and assistance. The office hours are 9 a.m  4 p.m. for Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m  11.a.m for Friday, and 9 a.m  2 p.m. for Saturday. There are two other tourist information post are at Adisucipto airport and Tugu Railway Station.
